Description
A heavy wooden door stands as a silent sentinel against a stark white wall. The oil painting captures a moment of surreal transition. A luminous, organic void carves through the bottom of the timber. This golden light suggests a hidden interior or a dreamlike passage. The artist blends architectural precision with an exploration of memory and migration. Every brushstroke emphasizes the contrast between the solid structure and the ephemeral glow.
The composition breathes with a quiet, Mediterranean stillness. Delicate vines climb the plaster. A small alarm sign and a house number ground the scene in reality. This juxtaposition creates a tension between the mundane and the mystical. The artwork reflects the experience of living between worlds. It transforms a simple facade into a portal of identity. Warm ochre tones bleed into the cool white surroundings. The gaze is drawn toward the soft, amorphous shape that disrupts the symmetry. A single fallen leaf rests on the pavement. The scene concludes with the tactile detail of weathered wood and pale stone.

Nataliya Lemesheva is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores the themes of memory, identity, and migration. After establishing her professional career and gaining academic recognition, Lemesheva relocated her studio to Spain in 2020. This transition became a catalyst for an in-depth investigation into the concept of “living between worlds.”
Her work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions, including the Royal Academy of Arts (London) and the Grand Palais (Paris), as well as across galleries in Spain and Russia. In her practice, Lemesheva reimagines the traditions of Dutch still life and classical painting through contemporary mediums such as papier-mâché and industrial plastic, creating hybrid objects at the intersection of sculpture and painting. She currently lives and works in Barcelona
