Description
A wooden door stands as a silent witness to an unseen presence. The oil painting captures a moment of profound stillness. A dark silhouette emerges from the center of the frame. It does not stand before the door but seems to be carved into it. This void creates a haunting dialogue between presence and absence.
The artist explores the fragile boundary between different realms. The figure suggests a ghost of memory or a displaced identity. Muted tones of ochre and grey define the architectural setting. A soft light washes over the stone archway. This contrast emphasizes the depth of the blue shadow.
The composition blends figurative elements with a structured landscape. Every brushstroke evokes a sense of migration and transition. The artwork reflects the experience of existing between two worlds. It transforms a mundane entrance into a portal of introspection. The gaze is drawn to the mysterious silhouette. The piece concludes with the sharp detail of a house number on the white wall.

Nataliya Lemesheva is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores the themes of memory, identity, and migration. After establishing her professional career and gaining academic recognition, Lemesheva relocated her studio to Spain in 2020. This transition became a catalyst for an in-depth investigation into the concept of “living between worlds.”
Her work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions, including the Royal Academy of Arts (London) and the Grand Palais (Paris), as well as across galleries in Spain and Russia. In her practice, Lemesheva reimagines the traditions of Dutch still life and classical painting through contemporary mediums such as papier-mâché and industrial plastic, creating hybrid objects at the intersection of sculpture and painting. She currently lives and works in Barcelona
