Description
In this monochrome relief, an ephemeral shadow acquires weight and physical presence. Raised papier-mache elements emerge from a white ground and change as light moves across the surface. By giving shadow a body while keeping it almost indistinguishable from its surroundings, Lemesheva explores the boundary between object, projection and space. Acrylic and papier-mache on reinforced plywood. Signed by the artist and supplied with a certificate of authenticity.

Nataliya Lemesheva is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores the themes of memory, identity, and migration. After establishing her professional career and gaining academic recognition, Lemesheva relocated her studio to Spain in 2020. This transition became a catalyst for an in-depth investigation into the concept of “living between worlds.”
Her work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions, including the Royal Academy of Arts (London) and the Grand Palais (Paris), as well as across galleries in Spain and Russia. In her practice, Lemesheva reimagines the traditions of Dutch still life and classical painting through contemporary mediums such as papier-mâché and industrial plastic, creating hybrid objects at the intersection of sculpture and painting. She currently lives and works in Barcelona
