Description
A deep immersion in the nuances of the ocean. This composition plays on the contrasts between abyssal blues and flashes of immaculate white. The gesture is guided here by intuition. The material stretches and merges to evoke the perpetual movement of the waves.
The influence of Caribbean landscapes permeates every centimeter of the canvas. One finds in it the intense luminosity of the Antilles and the force of the marine elements. In the center, a silhouette suggests the presence of a sailboat facing the swell.
The technical approach mixes mastery and chance. The pigments intertwine to create organic textures. The gaze travels from the dark depths to the clarity of the sky. This sensitive approach transforms the observation of the world into a pure visual experience.
The chromatic balance emphasizes the tension between calm and storm. The shades of blue are organized in successive strata.
Presentation
Nicole Decote has carefully explored all genres. After taking courses at the Nancy School of Fine Art, the artist went on to perfect her skills in a number of workshops, practising still life, landscape, portraiture, geometric abstraction, hyperrealism and abstract expressionism.
Deeply attuned to what she sees, she develops a rigorous and generous practice, reflecting her desire to pass on to her public the pleasure of seeing and feeling.
The "Caribbean blue" that inspired the artist during her long stay in the West Indies and the intense tones of the sea and sky become the raw material of a practice that links the skill of the hand, the mastery of the gesture, and the artist's intuitive trust in chance.
Refusing to follow a precise direction or to constrain her practice, Nicole DECOTE creates compositions that range from abstraction to the representation of more familiar forms, from subtle and restrained chromatisms to sustained colour variations and contrasts.
The coloured patches that emerge from her creations are the fruit of an observation of the world and a sensitive experience.
