Description
The artist explores here the boundary between figuration and abstraction. The gaze overlooks a landscape where forms merge into a wash of blues. The composition prioritizes atmosphere over architectural precision.
The work is based on a controlled superposition of acrylic and ink. These materials create plays of transparency and depth. The shades stretch in horizontal bands.
The approach is that of a visual memory. Nature is not reproduced, but felt. The gesture is fluid, almost instinctive, while maintaining a technical rigor inherited from engraving.
The light seems to filter through layers of mist, bringing a diffuse clarity to the center of the canvas. The whole exudes a contemplative serenity. This painting is characterized by a subtle balance between dense shadow areas and flashes of white. The final rendering emphasizes the texture of the support and the fluidity of the ink.
Presentation
After a first training cycle at the École des Beaux-Arts of Pau (64), I specialized in engraving under the direction of Jean-Marie Granier at the National School of Fine Arts of Paris. I diversified my artistic practice notably by working with ink which has become central today in my work with drawing as a basis.
From engraving to burin, I maintain a taste for meticulous work, and paper as a support. Nature is a subject of observation but also of dream, I do not seek to make it naturalistic; I observe the landscape for a long time, I let it infuse me, I draw quickly like taking notes then returning to the studio, often several months later the ink emerges. Sometimes it comes just from the color, but for me this color always stems from what I have been able to observe and carry within me, it is as concrete as a drawing of a tree and it is important to me that it carries emotion.
