White Butterflies, 2026

Aram Yengibaryan

This abstract composition explores the tension between structure and fluidity. The canvas unfolds in horizontal layers. Each band suggests a different atmospheric state.
A muted palette of grey and pale violet anchors the scene. These cool tones contrast with sudden bursts of deep crimson and turquoise. The brushwork is energetic and tactile. Mixed media techniques add depth to the surface.
Two dark, monolithic shapes dominate the vertical axis. They act as anchors within the shifting colors. Inside these dark voids, white gestural marks flutter like birds in flight. These small accents introduce a sense of movement and liberation. They break the heaviness of the dark pigments.
The lower section dissolves into vertical drips. This creates a rain-like effect that bleeds into the red base. The balance between the solid blocks and the liquid streaks evokes a feeling of metamorphosis. The artwork captures a moment of change. It navigates the space between stability and dissolution. The final result is a rhythmic study of contrast and light.
