Description
Ink imposes itself here as the thread of a precise formal research. The gesture frees itself from figuration to explore the purity of color. A dialogue is established between deep blues and flashes of solar yellow.
The composition plays on transparency and superposition. The collage brings a tactile and structural dimension to the whole. The shades blend into one another. They evoke an inner landscape, born from a patient observation of nature.
The artist transposes their visual memories into fluid abstractions. The paper becomes the support of a chromatic daydream. The light seems to emanate from the center of the canvas, creating a luminous focal point.
This piece combines the rigor of drawing with the freedom of watercolor. It testifies to meticulous work on the material and saturation. The balance of colored masses guides the eye through areas of variable density. The final rendering is characterized by soft transitions and organic contours.
Presentation
After a first training cycle at the École des Beaux-Arts of Pau (64), I specialized in engraving under the direction of Jean-Marie Granier at the National School of Fine Arts of Paris. I diversified my artistic practice notably by working with ink which has become central today in my work with drawing as a basis.
From engraving to burin, I maintain a taste for meticulous work, and paper as a support. Nature is a subject of observation but also of dream, I do not seek to make it naturalistic; I observe the landscape for a long time, I let it infuse me, I draw quickly like taking notes then returning to the studio, often several months later the ink emerges. Sometimes it comes just from the color, but for me this color always stems from what I have been able to observe and carry within me, it is as concrete as a drawing of a tree and it is important to me that it carries emotion.
