Description
A couple flies on a wooden horse. The movement suspends time. The blue sky dominates the composition. Below, a miniature carousel awaits its passengers among round, green trees.
The brushstroke emphasizes the lightness of the moment. The acrylic brings a sharp clarity to the contours. The contrast between the earthly ground and the dreamlike ascent creates a surprising visual narrative.
The man's formal costume and the woman's white dress evoke a celebration. Their faces express a shared serenity.
The artist transforms an everyday scene into a poetic vision. The perspective plays with scales to accentuate the fantastic aspect of the journey.
The whole is characterized by a luminous palette and precise lines. The detail of the horse's blue harness recalls the colors of the carousel located below.
Presentation
Born in Valenciennes, Jean-Pierre Lorand lives in Brussels. First an advertising designer, it is self-taught that he approaches his painting style. Classified painter of poetic reality by critic Stéphane Rey, he has exhibited since 1977, in Belgium and abroad.
Jean-Pierre Lorand plunges the viewer into a climate of poetry and serenity. With a consummate art of composition, he transports us in time and space. His works appear in numerous collections as well as in several illustrated books on Naive Art.
