Description
This acrylic painting transports us to an Indian setting imbued with serenity. The composition is organized around an architecture with carved arches that frame the landscape. In the foreground, a musician dressed in a pink sari plays a traditional instrument. Her calm demeanor invites contemplation.
The gaze then glides to a blue water basin where the light is reflected. White doves land lightly on the checkered floor and the balustrade. In the background, a palace with white domes stands under a cloudless azure sky.
The artist uses a naive style to create a poetic reality. The colors are straightforward and the outlines precise. Every detail, from the pink flowers to the rounded trees, contributes to this peaceful atmosphere. This scene captures a suspended moment, far from the hustle and bustle of the world. The balance of forms and the softness of the tones reinforce the impression of fullness. The uniform light bathes the entire scene, highlighting the purity of the architectural lines.
Presentation
Born in Valenciennes, Jean-Pierre Lorand lives in Brussels. First an advertising designer, it is self-taught that he approaches his painting style. Classified painter of poetic reality by critic Stéphane Rey, he has exhibited since 1977, in Belgium and abroad.
Jean-Pierre Lorand plunges the viewer into a climate of poetry and serenity. With a consummate art of composition, he transports us in time and space. His works appear in numerous collections as well as in several illustrated books on Naive Art.
