Description
This composition examines the tension between strict geometry and lively contrasts.
Vertical stripes dominate the field of vision. Deep blue tones meet in a rhythmic sequence with rich blue-greens. A central column of structured black lends stability to the work. This dark void forms a powerful focal point.
Thin red lines cut through the darkness. They appear like precise incisions or electric currents. These purplish-red stripes convey a sense of urgency. They break the silence of the surrounding blocks.
The interplay of cool and warm tones creates a subtle vibration. Every line is deliberately placed. The flat application of color contrasts with the tactile quality of the black pigment. This creates a refined depth.
The balance is architectural and at the same time emotional. It evokes a feeling of urban order and hidden energy. The viewer is drawn into a meditation on symmetry and disruption. Every element fulfills a precise structural purpose.
The artwork culminates in a sharp focus on the linear interface of the primary colors against a matte background.
The artwork is ready for hanging.
Presentation
Klaus Hoffmann, born 1957
In his works, Klaus Hoffmann explores the interactions of colors and forms, the special color contrasts and the effect of pure monochrome color surfaces.
In doing so, he avoids figurative associations and orients himself towards the art movement of Concrete Art.
He mostly uses geometric forms, which can also show deviations and breaks.
His aim is to create works that only represent themselves and do not refer to things that are outside the pictorial space, in the visible world.
They should also enable a sensual experience of the colors and forms and their interactions.
He works with pure, high-quality pigments, which are rubbed into aqueous acrylic dispersion and applied in numerous thin layers to give the color surfaces depth and enhance their luminosity.
Self-primed raw linen, whose natural structure remains recognizable, serves as the picture support.
This incorporates the picture support into the work and creates an autonomous overall work.
Hoffmann was educated at the Wiesbadener Freie Kunstschule and Freie Kunstakademie Frankfurt, with a focus on painting, composition, and color theory.
