Description
This composition examines the tension between order and spontaneity.
Deep blue areas dominate the canvas. They form a stable, atmospheric foundation. Vertical lines cut through the space with surgical precision. Some are thin and dark. Others expand into broad, cream-colored stripes. These stripes create a rhythmic tempo. They evoke the feeling of a digital barcode or a city silhouette perceived through blur.
The color palette is refined. Accents in blue-green provide a subtle change in color temperature. Warm brown tones anchor the center of the image.
The interplay of these tones creates a gentle vibration. Each line retains a sharp edge. This clarity emphasizes the flat, graphic character of the artwork.
The viewer is drawn into a meditative engagement with repetition and interval. A balance is achieved through the asymmetrical arrangement.
The arrangement allows a hidden logic to be perceived. It transforms a simple geometric exercise into a complex visual melody.
The final impression is that of disciplined energy. Every stroke fulfills a specific structural purpose within the blue expanse.
The artwork is ready for hanging.
Presentation
Klaus Hoffmann, born 1957
In his works, Klaus Hoffmann explores the interactions of colors and forms, the special color contrasts and the effect of pure monochrome color surfaces.
In doing so, he avoids figurative associations and orients himself towards the art movement of Concrete Art.
He mostly uses geometric forms, which can also show deviations and breaks.
His aim is to create works that only represent themselves and do not refer to things that are outside the pictorial space, in the visible world.
They should also enable a sensual experience of the colors and forms and their interactions.
He works with pure, high-quality pigments, which are rubbed into aqueous acrylic dispersion and applied in numerous thin layers to give the color surfaces depth and enhance their luminosity.
Self-primed raw linen, whose natural structure remains recognizable, serves as the picture support.
This incorporates the picture support into the work and creates an autonomous overall work.
Hoffmann was educated at the Wiesbadener Freie Kunstschule and Freie Kunstakademie Frankfurt, with a focus on painting, composition, and color theory.
