Description
This acrylic landscape plays on striking chromatic contrasts. The composition is organized into strict horizontal bands. An expanse of saturated pink crosses the center of the painting. This colored line separates a pale sky from mountainous reliefs in a earthy foreground.
Animal silhouettes graze calmly in this surreal space. Their presence emphasizes a peaceful solitude. Nature is represented here as a place of isolation and contemplation. The gaze circulates between the harshness of the snow-capped peaks and the softness of the pastel tones.
The work in acrylic allows for a precise superposition of planes here. The texture of the ground, treated with shades of green and brown, anchors the scene in an organic reality. This dialogue between chromatic abstraction and figurative elements creates a serene atmosphere.
The whole invites reflection on the link between the living and its environment. The precision of the animal forms contrasts with the freer treatment of the sky and the mountains. This painting dates from 2021.
Presentation
Nora Ampova (b. 1989) is a visual artist based in Sofia, Bulgaria. She holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the National Academy of Art, Sofia (2014) and completed a postgraduate specialization in the UK in 2011.
Nora’s work explores the relationship between humans and nature, as well as themes of travel, self-sufficiency, loneliness, and isolation.
Primarily a painter, her artistic practice also extends to collage, drawing, sculpture, and digital projects.
Her creative process begins with personal experiences and emotions, often resulting in figurative compositions where the female figure, frequently a form of self-portrait, plays a central role.
