Description

A dense composition where architecture and human intertwine. The artist deploys here a dreamlike vision of the Palestinian landscape. Geometric shapes interlock to create a complex relief. Figures are inserted into this labyrinth of stone and light.
The palette favors ocher and earthy tones. Golden touches come to illuminate the domes and horizons. Oil work allows for a precise superposition of planes. The perspective fragments. It evokes a memory or a waking dream.
Each detail pays homage to the identity of a territory. The curves of the arches respond to the straight lines of the buildings. The gaze circulates between spectral silhouettes and urban structures. The whole forms a tight visual weave. This painting, made in 205, explores the deep link between memory and geographical space. The composition is organized around a central luminous point that seems suspended above the city.

Presentation

Wadei Khaled is a Palestinian artist whose work is closely connected to the Palestinian landscape, with a particular focus on light, colour, and the natural environment. Working mainly with oil and watercolour, he combines careful observation with a bright and expressive use of colour. Influenced by Impressionism and its approach to light and atmosphere, Khaled has developed his own way of painting the landscapes he knows and encounters around him.

Born in 1986 in Al-Arroub Refugee Camp, Palestine, Khaled developed an interest in drawing and painting from an early age and held his first exhibition in the camp at the age of 13. He later studied Graphic Design and Multimedia at Palestine Polytechnic University before completing a degree in Fine Arts at Al-Quds University. His experience of growing up in a refugee camp and his close connection to the Palestinian landscape are reflected in his paintings, where olive trees, hills, fields, and buildings often appear. Through these familiar scenes, Khaled explores the connection between people, land, and memory. He currently lives and works in Ramallah, where he continues to develop his practice from his studio.
