Description
The face emerges from a dense and textured material. The gaze seems closed, plunged into deep introspection. The palette favors light and neutral tones. Off-white dominates the composition. The bright red of the lips brings a striking contrast.
The technique relies on a complex work of superimposed layers. The artist uses acrylics, pigments, and ink to create effects of transparency. The painting is sculpted here. It stretches in vertical streaks on the right side of the painting. These lines break the structure of the portrait.
The balance between figuration and abstraction guides the reading of the image. The background blends with the contours of the face. The light seems to come from within the canvas. This composition created in 2021 explores fragility and serenity. The technical execution mixes the precision of the line with the freedom of the gesture. The whole presents itself as a dreamlike portrait executed in mixed media technique.
Presentation
Self-taught painter Myriam Bourianne explores art as a realm of freedom. Free from academic constraints, she has built her universe on experimentation and a dialogue with materials. Her work defies categorization: from expressive faces to landscapes, from vibrant flowers to abstract compositions, she seeks above all to capture the essence of emotion. To bring her visions to life, she layers and blends acrylics, pigments, and ink, creating plays of transparency and depth. The use of materials is central to her approach: she sculpts the paint as much as she applies it. Each canvas is an invitation to experience the poetry of the moment.
