Description
1 - Description of the work
"Twilight Efflorescence" makes bloom, on a black canvas, a luxuriant bouquet that seems to emerge from the darkness rather than detach from it. Vivid orange, coral, apricot, and saffron yellow compose imagined petals; touches of glacial blue and chalky white add lunar freshness. The material is particularly worked: some petals show a grainy, almost alveolate relief, others spread in matte planes; saffron and salmon curls, traced in thick lines, swirl like stamens. At the base, a bottle-green, lacquered, and shiny drip forms a stem of light from which thin black lines emerge. At the edges, khaki splashes disperse downwards, and a vaporized orange veil fades on the right: the bloom still radiates at the moment when the night gains it.
2 - Critical analysis
In Excess & Splendors, the work assumes saturation and vital overflow, but places them under the sign of twilight. The abundance dialogues with its own finitude: • Radiance vs darkness: the black does not frame the colors, it carries them; each orange gains intensity as the background deepens. • Relief vs brilliance: the grainy petals capture the light when the lacquered drip reflects it: the canvas changes according to the angle of the gaze. • Profusion vs center: despite the dispersion of forms, everything converges towards the green heart, which anchors the bouquet. "Twilight Efflorescence" gives gravity to luxuriantness: the splendor is all the more vivid because it knows it is transient.
3 - Artistic and spiritual perspective
3.1 - In GABAN's work the work responds to ardent solstice as the evening responds to the zenith: even floral generosity, transposed into a nocturnal and more dramatic tone. It shares with Queen of night the conviction that darkness does not erase the bloom but reveals it, and affirms within Excess & Splendors a more intimate aspect, where the brilliance is doubled by a premonition of disappearance.
3.2 - Artistic parentage The bouquet bursting from a dark background reconnects with the tradition of 17th-century floral still lifes, where the profusion of flowers dialogues with the awareness of their fragility. GABAN keeps the eloquence and gravity, but abandons description in favor of gesture: the flower is no longer a motif, it becomes an apparition.
3.3 - Spiritual resonance: Twilight is the hour of transitions: the time when the clarity of day yields without rupture to a more inner light. In many traditions, the blooming flower figures as the flower of the soul, open to the point of meeting between matter and spirit. The work converts the memento mori of vanities into gratitude: that which is going to decline deserves to be fully celebrated. It recalls that the awareness of finitude does not extinguish joy; it directs it.
4 - Strengths of the work — Conclusion A nocturnal bloom with an immediate impact, legible even from a distance. Contrasting textures — grainy, matte, lacquered — which renew the reading up close. A black background used as a stage, which multiplies the vibration of the oranges. A versatile square format, which easily finds its place in a contemporary interior.

a breath that is no longer stifled. A vibration that imposes its necessity. Painter of pure emotion and living matter, GABAN emerges late, but with the certainty of being, finally, where everything converges.
Descended from a lineage of artists – grandson of Maxime Pierre André Verdier, painter and professor at the Beaux-Arts, and son of Michel Verdier, pathologist and leatherworker – GABAN carries in his veins the memory of gestures, the rigor of the gaze, and the freedom of pigments. But it is outside the academies that his work takes shape. A few courses, quickly abandoned. The essential is elsewhere: in the clash of colors, the visceral drive of the gesture, the tension between surface and depth. Never copy reality. Pierce it. Feel it. Invent it. With GABAN, emotion prevails over figuration, texture over line. His studios, in Paris and Aix-en-Provence, are sanctuaries. On one side a setting built for her by her partner, where the silent metamorphosis of an demanding and exposed Parisian life takes place, towards an inner fertility. There, the Ithaque house park unfolds its infinite palette of greens, ochres, wet shadows. Nature is not a source of inspiration: it is a matrix, a partner, a living double. On the other, his Parisian studio where the reflections of the sun on the Parisian rooftops are as many mirrors of souls, fertile ground for his creations. GABAN, a name chosen with poise by a woman who fully embraces herself but refuses assignments. Ambition is not gendered: to become a great artist, to sell his works during his lifetime, to exist in matter and in the market. That the art history is predominantly masculine is not a constraint, it is a field to reinvent. Appearing in painting in 2013 in a moment of assumed fracture with conventions and self-censorship, GABAN enters creation by breaking through. His period “EMERGENCE" (2013-2017) is dense, mineral, tumultuous. The canvases bear the stigmas of excess, of inner chaos, of flaws as much as of the will to extract oneself. The material is raw, sometimes black, incised, like scorched earth still smoking. Since 2025, a new era is taking hold: the period “CONVERGENCE", oriented towards calming, acceptance, openness. The colors broaden, the forms breathe, the gestures lighten without ever losing intensity. GABAN no longer seeks: GABAN is. And each canvas says it with elegance and power. GABAN does not paint to adorn, but to speak. To speak the dazzling beauty of the living, the subterranean struggles of the soul, and that quest for an always unstable balance between demand, freedom, and humanity.
