Description

DISTURBING THE WOLVES' FEAST — AGUS ZIMO

A feast interrupted. A community pushed to its limits. A moment when accumulated frustration demands to be heard.

In Disturbing the Wolves' Feast, Agus Zimo approaches social injustice through visual drama and metaphor. Created in 2026 using acrylic and Aqua Proof on canvas, this unique painting reflects the artist's concern with corruption, institutional misconduct and the marginalisation of people dedicated to the public good.

The title establishes the work's central tension. The wolves suggest predatory power; the feast evokes privilege sustained amid the suffering of others. To disturb that gathering is to challenge its apparent immunity and introduce the presence of those excluded from it.

According to Zimo's statement, the work originates in his observation of reality. He describes a community worn down by injustice, whose collective consciousness reaches a boiling point. Resentment becomes resistance, confronting an elite perceived as celebrating at the community's expense.

The painting gives expression to this pressure: the distance between public suffering and private advantage, between the pursuit of justice and the mechanisms that obstruct it. Its metaphorical language leaves space for viewers to reflect on power, responsibility and the point at which endurance becomes opposition.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Agus Zimo was born on 22 July 1978 and lives and works in Langkaplancar, Pangandaran, West Java, Indonesia. He holds a Bachelor of Education (S.Pd.) in Fine Arts from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Bandung, and founded Dapur Seni Agus Zimo in 2013.

For Zimo, an artwork is a dialogue with the outside world. His philosophy places artistic independence alongside the courage to address injustice and an openness to difference. His subjects connect personal convictions with wider social, cultural and environmental concerns.

Presentation

Agus Zimo creates paintings that invite curiosity and awaken awareness. Born in Indonesia in 1978, he lives and works in Langkaplancar, Pangandaran, West Java. He studied Fine Arts at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia in Bandung and established Dapur Seni Agus Zimo in 2013.

At the heart of his practice lies a conviction: art gives form to what deserves to be heard. Questions of justice, environmental protection and freedom of expression enter his work through narratives that connect personal experience with collective concerns. He welcomes the unexpected, seeing unconventional imagery as a way to reveal truths that ordinary appearances may conceal.

Working in mixed media on canvas, including acrylic and Aqua Proof, Zimo approaches painting as an open conversation. His subjects encourage viewers to reconsider their relationship with nature, society and one another. In , a celebration of woodland beauty becomes an invitation to preserve the living world upon which we depend.

His exhibition history spans two decades, with solo presentations in Bandung and participation in group exhibitions at venues including Selasar Sunaryo Art Space, Indonesia's National Gallery, ISA Art Gallery and Grey Gallery.

His paintings offer a meeting place for imagination and conviction, where visual pleasure opens toward a deeper engagement with the world.
