Description
The eye stops on a banal subject, transformed into a compositional study. Here, a green plant flourishes in a deep blue pot.
The chromatic contrast structures the space. The saturated green of the foliage stands out against an earthy and matte background.
The treatment of light brings a cinematic dimension to the scene. A singular detail disrupts the classic reading of the still life: a transparent plastic film envelops the base of the container.
This modern material creates white reflections and broken lines. It dialogues with the organic suppleness of the leaves.
The brush works the material with precision and sensitivity.
The artist thus explores the hidden beauty of the everyday. He transforms an ordinary corner of a room into a reflection on form and light.
This oil painting is distinguished by its realistic approach and its poetic reading of the world.
The final rendering emphasizes the transparency of the plastic and the density of the blue pigment.
Presentation
Rémy Sirope (born in 1965) is a figurative painter trained at the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, where he obtained a European Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts. Working primarily in oil on canvas, he has for several years been developing a research focused on everyday life and urban landscapes, striving to reveal the beauty hidden in the most ordinary details.
His works capture unique atmospheres, playing with light and composition to convey the essence of a place or moment. Between realism and sensitive interpretation, his paintings draw inspiration from American realist painting and the visual world of road movies, notably those of Wim Wenders, to infuse his scenes with a narrative and cinematic dimension.
Rooted in a practice faithful to pictorial tradition but nourished by a contemporary sensibility, Rémy Sirope offers a poetic reading of the world around us. His work invites contemplation and questions the aesthetic value of the banal, transformed into an artistic subject.
