About the artwork
Artwork sold in perfect condition
Nicolas Osborn is a painter, video artist, electronic music producer and poet born in London, in 1979. At an early age he showed an interest and talent in drawing. In his teens he studied art and cinema. He went on to study Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art and Middlesex University where he obtained his bachelor degree. These years were spent in an intense experimentation with painting, photography, video and sound.
In 2007 he attended the Royal College of Art where he further explored Audio Visual practices, and experimented with acting. He graduated with a masters in 2009. The same year he showed his video “Nerve Harness” in the exhibition ‘The Fool’ at the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art and “Over to you” at the gallery Michel Journiac at the Sorbonne. 2010 saw the publishing of an article in Turbulence Video no. 66 titled “Nicolas Osborn: Over To You, 2009”.
He further exhibited and composed a piece of music for television until 2012, when a radical shift in perception, propelled him into a thorough investigation of meditation and the nature of being. He didn’t create any art work for six years until 2018 with a return to painting culminating in the exhibition “Hommes, Ombres et Lumières” in 2019. He currently lives and paints in the South of France.
‘The people that Nicolas peints don’t look at us randomly. Their eyes closed for a profound and calm meditation, open to meet us. As one would open ones arms, those that do not know us, lift, modestly but without concession, the veil on their suffering, there pains of life for us to see them, us, brothers on the same path.
Nicolas’ paintings are gifts, a warning of an absolute humanity.’ Dominique Thireau
