Description
Print available in several formats and prices

Aotearoa, or "the land of the long white cloud", is the Maori name for New Zealand where Guillaume Pépy stayed several times.

From the point of view of graphic detail and contrast, this series focuses on the volcanic character of the island and the alternation of the mineral and vegetable worlds. The original nature manifests itself in a spectacular way on volcanic sites or in primary forests, and at the same time increases its tourist attraction and potential impact. In Maori culture, the land is a common good shared by all: this omnipresence of the "wilderness" raises questions about the need to protect it.

Beyond this, the range of colours, graphics and materials of the four fundamental elements, earth-water-air-fire, which rub shoulders and subtly balance each other in the compositions of the artist's photographs, plunges the spectator into an almost abstract harmony of a universal dimension.
