The Antarctic continent concentrates all the geographical superlatives: the only continent entirely covered by ice, the largest reserve of fresh water, the strongest winds and the lowest temperatures. More importantly, it is both the only continent entirely reserved for peace and science by international agreement, and the only one whose land officially belongs not to any one country but to all mankind.
Created during a 13-month wintering at the Dumont d'Urville polar research station, the series documents the original state of nature of the Antarctic continent to illustrate the results of this unique example of international environmental protection effort.

Presentation
Born in Pau in 1983, Guillaume Pépy lives in Béarn and works between the Alps and the Pyrenees. Author-photographer since 2013, his personal series focuses on the place of man in his environment, particularly in remote or rural areas. His work on Antarctica is regularly exhibited in France, Belgium and Switzerland and has also won several international awards such as the Grand Prix and Series Award at the Montier-en-Der festival in 2010, the IUCN Prize, "Ocean photographer of the year", category "The Poles" in 2016.
