Description
This black and white work taken in Cramont in Picardy elegantly captures the simplicity and authenticity of rural life. In the center of the image, a massive haystack sits on a trailer, placed haphazardly between two rustic buildings. The weather-worn roofs of these structures add a timeless charm to the scene, evoking a bygone era. The walls are marked with age, their cracks and worn hues telling the story of years of resistance to the elements. The composition of the image is meticulous, with every detail serving to reinforce the nostalgic atmosphere. The sharp outlines of the buildings contrast with the irregular texture of the hay, creating a captivating visual dynamic. Shades of gray are used with remarkable mastery, each shadow and light contributing to a striking depth. The wild plants surrounding the scene add a touch of untamed nature, organically integrated into the whole. This photograph is not only a faithful reflection of a rural landscape; it is an ode to perseverance and the beauty found in everyday life. It encourages a pause, a reflection on the simplicity and richness of ordinary moments.
Presentation
Philippe Grincourt was born in France in 1952. He lives in Brittany.
He worked in Paris as an expert in transport and logistics. Over the years, he has produced reports in North Africa, the United States, street photography, documentary photography on a religious procession photographed over 20 years or his work on the memory of the battlefields of the Sum of the war of 14-18.
Today an author-photographer, he is a very promising emerging photographer with his work on Breton landscapes.
He was able to give birth to an obvious graphic design by capturing in his viewfinder the mineral elegance of all these granites subjected to the breaking waves, whose scarlet whiteness contrasts with the very well perceived blackness of the clouds which justify them. The quality of the blacks and whites and the perfectly balanced grays constitute the profusion of this pictorial density in exemplary prints. He is a master in the art of making “tableaux vivants” out of his photographs. Alain Mingam (Winner and former President of the World Press Photo Contest)
