Description
Unique print from a film photographic shot Bulb of fire
Matte archival paper.
Bze (2004) hand-enhanced, posca, pencil
"Photos of the road, the street, the margin and its people"
This print is from the book "OVERGROUND, déroutants voyageurs", 2006, Bze & Tomski, Paris, Editions Alternatives.
The image opens with a radical contrast. A deep black background welcomes an interlace of white lines. These lines swirl with raw energy. The movement seems to capture the fleeting moment of a trajectory.
The artist fuses photography and ink here. The calligraphic gesture modifies the perception of the support. This approach transforms a visual capture into an abstract composition.
The quick line evokes instinctive writing. It recalls the codes of street art and the freedom of urban movement. Handwritten inscriptions border the frame, adding a narrative and intimate dimension to the composition.
This unique print made in 2004 explores the boundary between documentary and plastic expression. The sepia rendering brings an organic nuance to the whole. The technique relies on a fine art print on paper.
Presentation
Bze has been tagging since he was 12. He writes on his school table, his clothes, the walls and public transport in his environment.
In parallel with university studies in photography and cinema, Bze explored the underground corners of Europe with his film camera, hunting for the aesthetics of the road, the street, the margins and its people. Since 1999, through exhibitions and slideshows between Granada and Rotterdam, he has shared his thousands of slides. In 2006, Bze finalized his photographic journey with a book called Overground, confusing travelers published by Éditions Alternatives. A unique, almost sociological look, revealed by a selection of more than 600 photographs of the counterculture with its communities, demonstrations, squats, free parties...
Following his meeting with the artist Nef, they created the Nef&bze© graphic studio (focused on electronic music).
Returning to his roots, the aesthetics of the letter, Bze devotes himself in the studio to painting on canvas or paper. His contemporary calligraphy, Neo-writer, tends towards minimal abstractionism.
An artistic journey marked by diversity and authenticity, a thirst to share.
