Description
Bze works on two series presented in the style of A chair, jardin du Luxembourg, Paris, 10th august 1985 by David Hockney.
Unique print on glossy paper.
The figure of the object is divided into several axes of vision and in a cubist approach to the composition. But, fragmented according to multidirectional folds, the image does not divide. All it can do is objectify itself, detach itself from the background and throw itself to our face. Its resistance to being put into pieces and its complicity with fragmentation knot what should be called a RE-presentation of the conventional world. A distorted transcription, in order to propose another facet of reality, to emphasize the omnipresence of its irrationality, to affirm its subjectivity, and which modifies its meaning. The photographic nature of its components inscribes it by default in truth, but a truth always partial. Because they are fragmented, its components, in fact, lie by omission.
The partiality of the photographic framing is mitigated by the assembly of several images from the same field. Because it accounts for the fragmentation in the unity, the image tends towards a truth that does not deny its subjectivity. The tool for this project is a digital reflex and all the images presented are virtually photoshopped.
The image explores the city through a deconstructed prism. The gaze fragments. Shards of facades and windows assemble in a rigorous geometric game. The deep black of the background accentuates the contrast with the clarity of the architectural structures.
The graphic approach transforms a banal moment into an abstract composition. The broken lines create a jerky visual dynamic. One discerns the precision of the framing and the meticulous work on the composition.
The fine art paper brings depth to the nuances of blue and gray. This photograph plays with the perception of space and volume. It captures the essence of modern urbanism through methodical decomposition.
The whole rests on a fragile balance between order and chaos. Natural light strikes the right angles of the buildings. This work was created in 2008.
Presentation
Bze has been tagging since he was 12. He writes on his school table, his clothes, the walls and public transport in his environment.
In parallel with university studies in photography and cinema, Bze explored the underground corners of Europe with his film camera, hunting for the aesthetics of the road, the street, the margins and its people. Since 1999, through exhibitions and slideshows between Granada and Rotterdam, he has shared his thousands of slides. In 2006, Bze finalized his photographic journey with a book called Overground, confusing travelers published by Éditions Alternatives. A unique, almost sociological look, revealed by a selection of more than 600 photographs of the counterculture with its communities, demonstrations, squats, free parties...
Following his meeting with the artist Nef, they created the Nef&bze© graphic studio (focused on electronic music).
Returning to his roots, the aesthetics of the letter, Bze devotes himself in the studio to painting on canvas or paper. His contemporary calligraphy, Neo-writer, tends towards minimal abstractionism.
