Description
Couli #1, From Lullaby Series. Limited edition of 3 +1AP. More Editions & Sizes:. Small size: 39.4 x 27.5 in. Edition of 5 +2AP. Unframed. Lullaby is the second chapter of a larger body of work that pushes further the themes and ideas explored in the series Paranoia. Again this collection of images was arranged ‘a posteriori’ with pictures shot over a range of 7 years stressing the constant interest of the author for the same recurring topics.
This artwork presents a striking portrait of a young man positioned in profile against an elaborate floral backdrop. The selection of a richly detailed, pink-and-green floral pattern on a muted background establishes a harmonious blend between the subject and his environment. The young man’s posture, poised and contemplative, exudes strength and grace, contrasting with the softness of the flowers. His skin tone adds depth and dimension, seamlessly integrating with the vivid tapestry of flora, creating an almost camouflage effect. The juxtaposition of human form against the ornate, overflowing peonies invites viewers to contemplate themes of identity and nature. The artwork's meticulous attention to texture and contrast creates a visually captivating dynamic, suggesting a dialogue between individuality and the backdrop of cultural or environmental influences. This composition is a masterful exploration of blending and contrast, making a powerful visual statement.
Presentation
The Italian artist Salvatore Arnone has lived and worked in Paris since 2014. After starting his career as an engineer, he turned to jewelry creation and worked for different brands around the world for nearly 10 years. . Despite this immersion in the creative field, at one point he felt the need to devote himself solely to photography and focus on his own vision.
In 2010 he was first published on Vanity Fair Italia and over the years his work has been featured in several magazines and exhibitions around the world. Starting at the age of 25, he began suffering from progressive hearing loss due to genetic cellular degeneration which required him to use hearing aids. The absence of meaning has profoundly affected his perception of the world around him and his social relationships, pushing him into a slow but constant process of self-isolation which is clearly visible in all his output.
His images mainly revolve around the search for a personal idea of beauty which often blends into sadness and silence, of harmony in chaos, of balance in imperfection which represent the leitmotif of the all of his work. The author is currently focusing on his personal work and is also experimenting with other media besides photography.
