This intriguing artwork captures a dynamic interplay of motion and stillness, invoking a sense of ethereal fluidity. The image presents two figures caught in a dance-like gesture. One figure, depicted in a soft blur, conveys movement, embodying energy and rhythm. Their form is partially obscured, enhancing the illusion of speed and transition. The other figure is a striking contrast, standing still and fully exposed. Their poised stance suggests a moment of contemplation amid the surrounding motion. The lighting accentuates the contours and highlights, creating a harmonious balance between shadow and illumination. The background, subtly rendered, contributes to the dreamlike atmosphere, suggesting a timeless space where action and reflection coexist seamlessly. The artwork’s masterful use of color and light, combined with its evocative composition, invites viewers to ponder themes of transience, presence, and the fluid nature of identity. Through its compelling juxtaposition, the piece challenges perceptions, evoking a sense of wonder and introspection.

Presentation

Mauricio Velez was born and lives in Colombia. He was trained at the European Institute of Design in Italy. Since then, he has worked on a large number of projects in Latin America, the United States and Spain, offering, through his personal prism - images which he seeks to refine the sensitivity and perception of the viewer towards religious icons, art, and the human body.

His work confronts the viewer with a sense of aesthetics that balances between the spiritually inspired and the disturbed.

"In few photographers like Mauricio Velez does aesthetic become ethic. Every portrait scene is seamless. Every composition is an impeccable piece: the light, gesture, even the preference in models. Nothing can be discredited of the photographic style neither the clean technic. And for this aesthetic perfection, the message lends to the viewer in its pure state."
