Description
This piece is based from the cover work of the dystopian sci-fi Ursula's K. Leguin Book, 'The Left Hand of Darkness' In this Polymonotype work, Weis plays with the reality of what a painting is and what a silkscreen can be, as she creates her own unique hybrid method of painting and silkscreen printmaking (typically done in simulated multiple editions) through the process of printing through a blank silkscreen, deemed 'Polymonotype', creating a unique multi-layered fusion of these aspects in one piece.
This abstract composition merges scientific curiosity with an imaginative spirit. The artwork explores the intersection of cosmography and physical matter. Swirls of grey and muted violet collide with bursts of vivid orange and luminous yellow. These colors shift like molten minerals or distant nebulae. The application of pigment ink and screen printing creates a layered depth. A subtle neon glow adds a modern, electric energy to the piece. The inclusion of crystals introduces a tactile, geological dimension. This creates a dialogue between the organic and the synthetic. The composition floats within a vast white void. It evokes a sense of weightlessness and celestial expansion. Sharp, rhythmic strokes suggest movement and rapid transformation. The visual language reflects a deep research into nanophysics and dark matter. Every gesture feels precise yet spontaneous. The result is a conceptual study of energy and form. The piece concludes with a delicate balance of transparency and saturated pigment.
