Sea Shard, 2026

Sadie Weis

Weis plays with the reality of what a painting is and what a silkscreen can be, as she creates her own unique hybrid method of painting and silkscreen printmaking (typically done in simulated multiple editions) through the process of printing through a blank silkscreen, deemed 'Polymonotype', creating a multi-layered fusion of these aspects. These works portray various talismans and imagery based on vivid dreams of the artist.

This vibrant artwork merges abstract imagination with scientific curiosity. A swirling vortex of color dominates the composition. Neon pink edges frame a deep, dark ring that pulls the eye inward. Inside, luminous turquoise and pale grey tones overlap in fluid layers. A sharp streak of crimson cuts through the center like a molten core. The visual rhythm suggests a cosmic event or a geological formation viewed from above.
The technique blends pigment ink and screen printing with the addition of interference pigment whic makes it glisten. This choice of materials adds a tactile dimension to the conceptual exploration of nature. The artist draws inspiration from cosmography and the mysteries of dark matter. Each layer evokes the feeling of a celestial body or a melting mineral. The composition balances organic shapes with a precise, scientific energy. It captures a moment of transformation where liquid and solid states collide. The result is a luminous exploration of the unseen forces shaping the universe. The piece concludes with a delicate interplay of light and crystalline texture.
