Description
This work is based on an image of an ammonite crystal found in an old Hungarian book of crystals. Weis plays with the reality of what a painting is and what a silkscreen can be, as she creates her own unique hybrid method of painting and silkscreen printmaking (typically done in simulated multiple editions) through the process of printing through a blank silkscreen, deemed 'Polymonotype', creating a multi-layered fusion of these aspects. These works portray various talismans and imagery based on vivid dreams of the artist.
A singular, sweeping gesture defines this conceptual composition. A curve of iridescent pigment arcs across a luminous white void. The movement suggests a cosmic swirl or a geological fracture. Cool violets and deep indigos merge with pale yellows. These tones shift like light passing through a prism.
The artist bridges the gap between abstract imagination and scientific rigor. This artwork reflects a deep fascination with cosmography and the hidden structures of dark matter. The application of pigment ink and screen printing creates a layered, atmospheric depth. Neon accents add a subtle, modern vibration to the organic form.
The inclusion of crystal introduces a tactile, mineral dimension. This element grounds the ethereal imagery in physical reality. The composition feels suspended in time. It evokes the slow melt of a mineral core or the birth of a nebula. Every stroke balances precision with spontaneity. The result is a meditative exploration of the intersection between art and physics. The gaze follows the fluid line from the dense, textured base to the delicate, tapering tip.
