Description
This captivating plumwood sculpture is distinguished by its organic form and fluid curves, evoking the natural movement of living matter. The polished wood's texture offers a visual softness, contrasting with the material's robustness. The piece rises on a black base, accentuating its majesty and creating a play of light and shadow that shifts depending on the viewing angle. The sculptor has skillfully incorporated hollows and raised areas to give it three-dimensional depth, inviting the viewer to explore its contours with both their eyes and their imagination. Each part seems to engage in a dialogue with the whole, forming a dynamic harmony. It is a work that challenges us with its simultaneously primitive and modern appearance, representing a perfect balance between form and function, between raw nature and artistic refinement.
Presentation
I grew up admiring art in general thanks to my father, who was a painter and musician, and my grandfather, who was a writer. Growing up in such an environment has undoubtedly influenced my current choice of career as a woodcarver.
I mainly create my works by hand using a gouge without power tools in order to maintain an eco-friendly approach, and I only use reclaimed wood. This is my way of giving a second life to such a noble material. I try to evoke the themes of time and space as well as human emotion through my works. That is why my abstract style combined with a touch of realism suits me perfectly. For me, sculpture is an outlet for my thoughts and feelings, which I express through the noble material of wood.
