Description
This linden wood sculpture is a captivating example of abstract art. The work presents a slender, stylized figure whose gently curving lines create unparalleled visual harmony. The wood, with its natural texture and warm color, lends intimacy and authenticity to the piece. The central figure, evoking both a plant and a meditating figure, is flanked by two symmetrical arches that add an architectural dimension. The use of open spaces within the arches suggests the concepts of emptiness and fullness, inviting introspection. The black base contrasts with the light wood, accentuating the piece's elegance and modernity. This work is distinguished by its ability to seamlessly blend nature, architecture, and spirituality.
Presentation
I grew up admiring art in general thanks to my father, who was a painter and musician, and my grandfather, who was a writer. Growing up in such an environment has undoubtedly influenced my current choice of career as a woodcarver.
I mainly create my works by hand using a gouge without power tools in order to maintain an eco-friendly approach, and I only use reclaimed wood. This is my way of giving a second life to such a noble material. I try to evoke the themes of time and space as well as human emotion through my works. That is why my abstract style combined with a touch of realism suits me perfectly. For me, sculpture is an outlet for my thoughts and feelings, which I express through the noble material of wood.
