Description
This beechwood sculpture is distinguished by its organic lines and undulating forms, which evoke both fluidity and solidity. The natural material lends a unique warmth and texture to the work, while the intricate curves and sculpted openings create a subtle interplay of light and shadow. The asymmetry balances harmoniously with the overall form, giving the piece a dynamic visual movement. The artist has skillfully used the wood grain to accentuate the sculpture's depth and relief. This decidedly modern work invites contemplation and personal interpretation, while capturing the timeless essence of nature. It stands as an homage to raw, minimalist aesthetics and encourages touch and exploration of its smooth, textured surface.
Presentation
I grew up admiring art in general thanks to my father, who was a painter and musician, and my grandfather, who was a writer. Growing up in such an environment has undoubtedly influenced my current choice of career as a woodcarver.
I mainly create my works by hand using a gouge without power tools in order to maintain an eco-friendly approach, and I only use reclaimed wood. This is my way of giving a second life to such a noble material. I try to evoke the themes of time and space as well as human emotion through my works. That is why my abstract style combined with a touch of realism suits me perfectly. For me, sculpture is an outlet for my thoughts and feelings, which I express through the noble material of wood.
