Description
This sandstone sculpture explores the minimalist silhouette. The work relies on a rigorous balance between geometric forms and symbolism.
The piece is distinguished by a marked chromatic contrast. A deep red envelops the body and headwear, while a central black band structures the composition.
The face, treated with sobriety, fades behind the importance of the attributes. A gold necklace, composed of multiple superimposed rings, brings a touch of light and emphasizes the elegance of the character.
The use of sandstone allows for the combination of the robustness of the material with the finesse of the details. The glossy finish of the glaze catches the light, accentuating the relief of the textures.
The stylized approach transforms the portrait into a timeless icon. Every line is thought out to evoke dignity and serenity.
The work plays on verticality and symmetry. It presents a smooth and polished aspect that contrasts with the density of the natural material.
Presentation
Passionate about the arts, I began by painting, then I discovered 'THE EARTH' and all the richness and beauty it has to offer.
Water, earth and fire – three elements essential to life – fascinate me.
My current work focuses on couples, family, friends and femininity, using Raku techniques and the ultimate test of fire. I try to convey a message or symbolism: surprises, joys and, sometimes, disappointments right up to the last minute. I trained at the Douai School of Art.
I run an 'Expression terre' workshop and a 'Children's' workshop in Templeuve-en-Pévéle, as sharing is very important to me.
