Description
Deep Matter, created by Maria Ruisi in 2022, explores what remains invisible beneath the surface: the silent tensions, the buried wounds, and the energy that matter retains before transforming it.
The composition is built like a moving topography. Black, midnight blue, mineral green, and turquoise sculptural forms intersect, rise, and overlap. Some evoke fragments of rock, others frozen waves, geological faults, or the scales of a mysterious organism. Among these dark reliefs, luminous openings appear, giving the impression that the light comes from within the work itself.
Maria Ruisi uses resin, acrylic, pigments, and spray paint to develop a three-dimensional sculptural architecture. The materials do not only serve to create an image: they determine the way the work occupies space. The reliefs create real shadows, the pigments reveal metallic nuances, and the resin captures surrounding reflections. Depending on the time, lighting, and the viewer's position, the composition becomes more mineral, more aquatic, or almost cosmic.
This permanent evolution corresponds to Maria Ruisi's research on the relationships between matter, light, memory, and transformation. The title Deep Matter designates both the physical depth of the relief and the inner depth suggested by the work.
The handwritten text on the reverse is an integral part of the creation:
“Beneath the surface, silent currents move,
There stone dissolves in turquoise light.
Matter remembers every hidden wound,
And turns its depth into a pulse of life."
Beneath the surface, the currents therefore continue to flow. The stone loses its rigidity, matter retains the memory of the wounds, and the depth becomes a new pulse of life.
Deep Matter is a unique original work, 1/1, signed by hand on the front and back. The reverse also bears the title, the year, the dimensions, the identifier, and the artist's signature.
The work measures 51 × 51 × 6 cm in its complete presentation. It is delivered in its dark US Box frame, framed and ready to hang. Excellent condition, never restored. Certificate of authenticity included. Direct provenance from the workshop of Maria Ruisi and Abstract Art Gallery, Riga. Lifetime gallery warranty.
