Description
PEARL TRAIL
Maria Ruisi
2025 · Mixed-media assemblage · 42 × 32 cm
Pearl Trail gives physical form to the fleeting associations of fragrance: a remembered moment, the shimmer of an ornament, the quiet intimacy of an object kept close.
Maria Ruisi builds the composition around sculptural perfume-bottle elements and transparent glass. A ribbed gold-toned neck rises through the upper section, introducing a vertical rhythm within the surrounding curves. Below, reflective glass forms catch and redirect the light.
A strand of pearl-effect decorative beads winds across the surface, accompanied by small circular settings. Its looping path connects the central objects with the surrounding seashells and gold accents, giving the assemblage a sense of continuity.
The white ground provides space for each detail to emerge. Translucent passages and scattered gold-toned particles create an irregular field around the central rectangular panel. The relationship between transparency, opaque ornament and reflective surfaces gives the work its changing visual character.
The seashells introduce a coastal association, while the perfume-bottle elements evoke personal ritual and memory. Together, these familiar objects become an intimate composition that invites close observation.
The artist's handwritten message on the reverse reads:
“Fragrance takes shape in the shimmer of glass and gold. A trail of pearls holds the enchantment of a fleeting moment."

Presentation
Maria Ruisi is a contemporary artist whose work explores balance, light, and depth through abstraction and wall sculpture. Her pieces reside at the boundary between painting and sculpture, where matter comes alive to dialogue with architectural space.
Trained in arts and design in Latvia, Maria Ruisi develops a rigorous practice informed by her background in engineering and visual perception research. This dual approach provides her work with a powerful contemporary presence and profound aesthetic coherence. Each creation is a unique, hand-crafted piece, where sculpted reliefs and pigments interact with light to reveal subtle variations throughout the day. Designed as silent presences, her works enhance prestigious environments, ranging from private collections to interior design and luxury hospitality projects.
