Après-Ski
As the days get colder, ski season is on our doorstep. Whether newbies or seasoned skiers, many will flock to the slopes between November and April to practice this historical sport. There are not many activities as exhilarating as gliding through snowy peaks, before spending time with loved ones after a long day on the slopes. Many contemporary artists seek to capture this magic through art – among some of our current favorites are works by Slim Aarons, Gloria Estefanell and Dorota Zych-Charaziak.
A legendary American photographer, Slim Aarons is known for his images of jet-setters and celebrities. In particular, he has recorded the glamorous life at major ski resorts, capturing socialites getting ready, hitting the slopes and enjoying a grand feast at high altitude. Mostly taken during the 1960s, his works have a vintage charm. Capturing the magic of skiing in a different way, contemporary artist Gloria Estefanell works mostly in the medium of paint. Her works contrast the spontaneity of the sport with ordered, carefully constructed compositions. Dorota Zych-Charaziak's charming ski-inspired paintings emphasize color, light and composition, depicting skiers gliding on the slopes.
Whether you are taking a trip to the alps this year or not, these works bring the magic of ski culture into any space. Join us today to discover our selection of artworks by contemporary artists inspired by the après-ski spirit!
