Neue Figuration

Pigmente wurden vor etwa 40.000 Jahren erfunden und werden seitdem von Künstlern als visuelles Element zur Gestaltung von Kunstwerken verwendet. Von der Verwendung von Rot im alten Ägypten bis hin zu Blau, das im Mittelalter begehrter war als Gold, hat sich die Verwendung von Farbe und ihr Wert im Laufe der Zeit stetig verändert. Dies hat zur späteren Farbtheorie in der Kunst geführt. Es war der Dichter Johann Wolfgang Goethe, der 1810 als Erster eine Theorie über Farben entwickelte. Ihm zufolge setzen sich Farben aus Licht und Schatten zusammen. Später konzentrierten sich die Impressionisten auf das Wesen der Farbe, indem sie Farben verwendeten, die das Licht ergänzen und einfangen, anstatt dunkle Farben für Schatten zu verwenden. Zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts schuf Vassily Kandinsky ein Raster für Farben, das Emotionen und Klänge mit 10 Farben assoziierte. In unserer Auswahl von Werken wird die Verwendung und Bewunderung von Farbe immer noch mit Werken von Guive Khosravi, die in leuchtenden Farben Bilder nebeneinander stellen, bekannte Charaktere in Bilder mischen. Robert Combas hingegen, der in den frühen 1980er Jahren eine neue figurative Malerei (die „Free Figuration“) erfand, verwendet Farben, um in das tägliche Leben einzugreifen.
