François Lauzier

Translation in progress

François Lauzier, a sculptor from Joliette in Lanaudière, studied Fine Arts at the CÉGEP in Saint-Jérôme in the early 1980s.

After an honing in woodcarving at the l'École québécoise du meuble et du bois ouvré in Montreal, the artist specializes in making faces, masks and puppets. In 1994, he founded a company of puppet shows, The Puppet Theater, in which he made both wooden carved puppets, sets, scriptwriting and public performances.

In the early 2000s, François Lauzier abandoned the puppet theater to reconnect with his passion for sculpture.

Since 2006, as a professional artist, Francois Lauzier presents solo exhibitions and participates in several group exhibitions. He is also pursuing his apprenticeship by completing advanced training courses in jewelery, stone cutting and gilding. In 2012, he won the 1st Prize in the Crafts category at the Grand Prix Desjardins de la Culture in Lanaudière. François Lauzier is particularly involved in his region by collaborating in the development and realization of various innovative cultural projects.
