Description
In this composition, the painter celebrates the sunny splendor of Menton, the most Italian of French towns. The old hilltop village stands proudly, imbued with the captivating atmosphere of Italian coastal villages.
Yellow and orange hues, emanating from the south, flood the canvas, evoking the dazzling light of the Mediterranean sun. Each nuance, each gradient, is an ode to the vibrant warmth of this sun-drenched region, enveloping the steep streets and ancient facades in a golden aura. The sky, yellow with golden reflections, blends harmoniously with the warm tones of the earth, creating a visual symphony. The rigorous lines, like character traits, reflect the artistic vision of the painter, loving to capture structure and geometry in their purest essence.
Through this work, the artist transports us to the heart of Menton, where time seems suspended and where every detail breathes authenticity and tradition. It is an invitation to escape to this picturesque corner, to soak up its timeless beauty and its intoxicating atmosphere.
Presentation
“Coming from an art school that forged its loyalty to academic values, Jacques Guillet, with five decades of pictorial experience, draws his inspiration from the varied hues of his palette. The years spent in Provence imbue his works with a captivating light.
Originally from Vendée, passionate about architecture and lover of the sea, he breathes a realistic and authentic presence into these themes in his paintings, while transcending the colorful reality. At times, he frees himself from this temporal rigor, while preserving his favorite subjects. He places them with elegance and simplicity on the canvas, abandoning the faithful representation for a refined interpretation.
Freed from accuracy when it becomes time-consuming, he remains faithful to his favorite themes. His creations not only depict existing landscapes and monuments, but also express a desire to escape, giving birth to Landscapes of Elsewhere, fruits of his imagination, imbued with a revealing minimalism. An unsuspected source of pleasure for the artist. »
Gabrielle GERMAIN
"I trace my path in continuity. Over the years, even decades, I discover and re-define my artistic path. Evolving is not denying the past, it is moving forward with confidence, improving, and daring to simplify because mastery of complexity is acquired."
