Woman lying thoughtful on blue sheets, 2024

This contemporary colorful painting featuring a naked woman  with a thoughtful look  lying on blue sheets near a coffee table with a bouquet of flowers in a vase makes part of my series dedicated to "Women".

I was inspired by "Red fish and a sculpture" painting of Henri Matisse (1911) which I recently saw in Paris. In his painting Matisse exemplified an expressionist style through the use of vivid colors. I found this approach so captivating and emotional.

My painting depicting a still life composition portrays a vivacious scene composed with bold colors and forms executed in an expressionist manner.  The main subject of my art piece is this naked woman lying on blue sheets.  In front of her there is a small coffee table bearing a vase of brighty red summer flowers. The blue background creates a dynamic but a relaxing space where this woman can enjoy her moment of calmness and tranquility during which she can simply dream and forget  about everything.

While working on this art piece, I wanted to explore deeply my intuitive approach that bridges the gap between representational subjects and the use of bold colors as an emotional force.

This art piece is done in post-impressionist style with a modern touch of brut art and expressionism.

This series dedicated to "Women" is a special one for me  since it is all about my strong deep personal transformation as an artist and as a woman. This transformation was based on the expansion of my understanding of the world around me as well as on my comprehension of my strengths and weaknesses. My artworks where I depict women allow me to explore my identity as a woman. This identify is based on many aspects such as vulnerability, sensitivity, sensuality, heart-openness, courage, determination.
