Description
The artwork presented is a striking piece of abstract art that captivates with its dynamic composition and vibrant hues. Executed with bold and confident brushstrokes, the canvas is predominantly filled with an expressive blend of purples, yellows, and a touch of orange. These colors intermingle in a harmonious yet intense dialogue, creating a rich tapestry of textured layers. In the upper left quadrant, a dark purple dominates, adding a sense of depth and mystery to the composition. This merges into lighter shades of purple and patches of black, giving an impression of shadow and form. Moving towards the center, the colors transition to a medley of yellows and whites, evoking a sense of light and luminosity. The yellow is intense and radiant, occupying a significant portion of the canvas, commanding attention and imbuing the piece with warmth and energy. Brushwork is a notable aspect of this painting, characterized by dramatic and vigorous strokes that suggest both spontaneity and deliberation. The texture created through these strokes adds a palpable dimension to the artwork, inviting the viewer to engage not only visually but almost tactilely. The abstract nature of the composition allows for open interpretation, making it a versatile piece that can evoke various emotions and thoughts. It could be perceived as a tumultuous landscape, a cosmic event, or a purely emotional expression, depending on the viewer's perspective. The lack of defined forms ensures that the painting remains enigmatic, encouraging repeated viewing and contemplation. This artwork stands out for its intense color palette, dynamic composition, and rich texture, making it a captivating and thought-provoking piece that commands attention in any setting.
Presentation
Doïna Vieru is an Ecuadorian-Moldavian artist born in 1978 who lives & works in France, Paris. She always preferred pas/pas/passionately the image to the word and all this despite crises of Bartlébysme. Between "I would prefer not to", pencils, papers, pvc or metal and other sharp instruments, the game remains his eternal favorite. After studying at the Chisinau Art Academy in Moldavia and Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris, France, she left Europe for Ecuador where she developed her own artistic language between mountains and jungle. Her return to 2019 in Paris is marked by an event-hanging at the Nesle gallery where she presented drawings on the three levels of the gallery. Her work, which has been exhibited regularly in Ecuador, Mexico, France, Romania and Moldova, still deals with the inexpressible. It's a kind of hide-and-seek game, to say and shut up.
Her production is serial: she paints on herself, on her pregnancies, to the rhythm of Tchaikovsky's Opus 35 or in the melanomaniac search for black. In the last series of drawings it is a question of hiding and destroying poetry by freely playing on large photographic paper with layers-history - palimpsests - superimposed where unintelligible writing mixes with charcoal, ink, with white acrylics and black stone. It is the rewriting of the disaster, a direct reference to the work of Maurice Blanchot: "When all is said, what remains to be said is the disaster, ruin of speech, failure in writing, rumor that murmurs: this which remains without remainder."
