Between here and there, 2012

Anatoly Kost

"Between Here and There" is an exploration of liminality—the threshold between spaces, emotions, and realities. The composition pulsates with movement, where intersecting black and blue lines form an intricate structure that appears both architectural and organic. Earthy ochre and deep rust tones suggest a passageway or corridor, leading the viewer through an abstract journey of transition and transformation.

Kost's bold brushstrokes and layered textures evoke a sense of shifting perspectives, as if capturing a fleeting moment between presence and departure. The contrasts between light and shadow, rigid lines and expressive gestural marks, emphasize the tension between stability and change. This work speaks to the concept of in-betweenness—whether physical, psychological, or existential—leaving space for individual interpretation and emotional engagement.

Concept

Painted in 2012 in Anatoly Kost's Volyn workshop, Between Here and There is part of the artist's continued investigation into movement, space, and perception. Exhibited in several contemporary art collections, this piece stands as a testament to his mastery of abstraction and ability to evoke complex themes through minimal yet powerful visual language.

A pioneer of "contemp-abstraction," Kost's work transcends mere form, embracing philosophy and emotion through structured spontaneity. His unique ArtHouse abstraction style transforms the canvas into a conversation between the material and the conceptual, where the viewer is invited to complete the narrative through personal interpretation.

Ideal for collectors seeking intellectually engaging and visually dynamic artworks, Between Here and There embodies the essence of movement and transition, making it a striking addition to any modern interior or gallery collection.
