Description
My painting is as much political as it is poetic, intimate as it is universal, creation as it is deconstruction: the expression of a gay identity in movement, in a desire to repair the traumatized collective imagination.
The male anatomy becomes the playground for pink and blue colors, symbols of gender stereotypes; for the deconstruction of toxic masculinity. The gay body is fantasized, its nudity becomes a pictorial motif. Its desire becomes a pretext for narration. The painting sublimates the almost atrophied and sweaty muscles of this body with its passive and offered ultra-virility.
Presentation
Initially an actor and videographer for the theatre, Samuel, now sam·e, develops a queer practice of sculpture and painting that deconstructs heroic virility and politically questions the body and its representations.
Her work questions the body as a political and plastic space: how norms shape our emotions and identities.
By weakening and queering the codes of the heroic body, they compose desired and desiring presences that invite new forms of resistance.
