Description
In Diva, Christelle Lenci constructs a feverish and baroque vision in which human and animal figures collide in a dense, entangled composition. At the center, a monumental female face emerges — at once goddess, monster, and performer — surrounded by crocodiles, hybrid beings, and dismembered forms. Her expression oscillates between seduction and anguish, embodying the tension between power and vulnerability.
Lenci's fine, obsessive linework weaves together a tapestry of textures — scales, hair, teeth, and skin blending into one pulsating organism. The muted tones of brown and ochre enhance the sense of organic decay, while the intricate detail invites both fascination and discomfort.
Diva encapsulates Lenci's exploration of transformation and the unconscious. Here, beauty becomes monstrous, and monstrosity, strangely divine — a haunting portrait of the feminine as a force both creative and devouring.
