Discover "Blooming Veil", a luminous contemporary floral painting by French artist Natalya Mougenot, crafted in acrylic on heavyweight professional acid-free paper and finished with gloss varnish for enduring vibrancy.

Measuring 42 × 59.4 cm (approx. 16.5 × 23.4 inches), this work is part of Mougenot's ongoing exploration of flowers as carriers of emotion, rhythm, and inner movement rather than decorative or botanical subjects.

"For me, flowers are vessels of energy. Each painting is a space of transmission, carrying the imprint of my inner state in the moment of creation," says Mougenot.

In "Blooming Veil", a cascading bouquet rises from a deep blue vase, stems fanning outward like a curtain of blooms.

The flowers are suggested rather than depicted, emerging through sweeping brushstrokes, layered violets and blues, and a vibrant interplay of cool and warm tones against a glowing yellow ground.

The painting feels as if it appeared in a single breath, guided by intuition rather than strict drawing, with accents of light and shadow animating the surface.

"I work without preliminary drawings and usually complete a painting in a single session," she explains, "allowing emotion to guide every decision."

The work invites a sensory and emotional response more than an analytical one — the flowers are not meant to be identified by species, but experienced as a flow of movement, softness, and quiet intensity.

They evoke openness and gentle expansion, as if a veil were lifting to reveal an inner radiance. Anchoring the composition, the blue vase grounds the vertical surge of color while allowing the surrounding space to vibrate with energy.

The title reflects this duality: the “veil" signifies both protection and revelation, capturing a moment when inner emotion becomes visible through color and gesture.

Blooming here is not simply botanical, but a metaphor for inner unfolding — a state of alignment where presence, tenderness, and strength coexist. The work balances spontaneity and calm, gesture and stillness.

Mougenot's practice echoes the legacies of Cézanne, Matisse, and Van Gogh, interpreted through a contemporary lens. “I am inspired by Cézanne's building of form through color, Matisse's emotional use of color, and Van Gogh's immediacy of gesture, but I translate these into my own intuitive language," she notes.

Attentive to the environments her works inhabit, she sees painting as an act of positive transmission, aiming to bring light, balance, and uplifting energy into intimate spaces over time.

"Blooming Veil" functions as a quietly powerful presence — a medium-format floral painting designed to be felt as well as seen, offering collectors a vivid, contemporary expression of nature as living, unfolding energy.

Presentation

Natalya is a contemporary  french artist living in Lyon.

She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.

She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.

She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.

In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism,  which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.

As an artist and as a woman  she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion,  is the pillar for the inner adult.

Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.

She works  rapidly  and is constantly sensitive  to the details.

Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
