"Color Dialogue": A Vibrant Original Floral Still Life in a Contemporary Expressionist, Metamodern Style by French Artist Natalya Mougenot

This expressive 50 x 65 cm (approx. 19.7 x 25.6 inches) mixed media painting, created with acrylic paints and acrylic pens on heavyweight, professional, acid-free French paper and finished with varnish, embodies Mougenot's distinctive approach at the intersection of contemporary expressionism and metamodernism.

Her style merges the emotional intensity and gestural freedom of expressionism with a metamodern sensitivity—oscillating between structure and spontaneity, figuration and abstraction, sincerity and playfulness.

The still life subject becomes a starting point rather than a constraint, allowing color, movement, and instinct to guide the composition.

Blending vivid color with energetic, intuitive linework, Mougenot creates a visual dialogue between abstract blooming flowers and radiant yellow apples. The composition unfolds through circular rhythms and expressive contours, where petals and fruit echo one another in a dynamic interplay.

At the center, three blossoms bloom in layered tones of violet, magenta, and turquoise, their forms alive with movement. Surrounding greens expand outward with fluid spontaneity, while the scattered yellow apples introduce warmth and balance. The cool blue vase anchors the composition, offering a moment of calm within the vibrant exchange.

Natalya's visible brushstrokes and raw, gestural marks are essential to her visual language. In conscious opposition to a world increasingly filled with AI-generated and digitally perfected imagery, she preserves the trace of the human hand.

Each stroke becomes an assertion of presence—imperfect, immediate, and deeply authentic—transforming the painting into a living surface rather than a polished illusion.

Her philosophy is rooted in freedom and truth in expression:

“I believe in the liberty of expression. I do not seek perfection or realism on canvas; I search for beauty in imperfection, freedom in color, and the courage to go beyond limits."

“I believe only in authenticity, as viewers will always feel whether an artwork is true or false."

“For me, capturing raw emotion is the highest priority, ensuring the work pulses with life rather than existing as a static, lifeless image."

The vibrant palette—deep violets, luminous greens, bright yellows, and cooling blues—creates a striking visual tension that feels both joyful and immediate.

“Color Dialogue" is designed for collectors who seek more than decoration. It is a statement piece for contemporary interiors, creative spaces, and those who value authenticity, emotional depth, and the undeniable presence of the artist's hand.
