Description
This work captures the iconic atmosphere of the Seine quays in Paris, where booksellers, with their characteristic green boxes, line the riverbank with books and prints. The Quai Conti, bathed in the golden light of evening, is bustling with pedestrians and cyclists, while the lit streetlights reflect their glow on the wet cobblestones.
The artist uses expressive brushstrokes and contrasts of warm and cool colors to evoke movement and everyday life. The bare trees, rendered in dark silhouettes, add a graphic and poetic dimension to the scene, while the pale blue sky and reflections on the water create a serene harmony.
Jean-Yves Fremaux pays homage here to the literary and historical soul of Paris, capturing the balance between tradition and modernity that characterizes the banks of the Seine.
Presentation
Jean-Yves Fremaux is a French figurative painter, born in 1947 in Marcq en Baroeul, near Lille. He studied medicine in Lille and moved on the banks of the Annecy lake. He initially began his career in painting, exclusively with complex watercolor art and did this for several years. This is when he made a name for himself. He then moved onto oil and palette knife painting, to express his universe and passion.
Jean-Yves Fremaux cultivated a figurative vision, which was out of sync and poetic. The artist is able to restyle architectures, chiaroscuro and moments of life with great expertise. The artist doesn't use any artistic movement, trendy phenomenons and doesn't paint for appearance sake, he paints for simple happiness and feels fulfilled when a viewer is enthralled in front of his work.
