Puerta de Alcalá., 2024

Dolores Deloma Sanchez

This atmospheric painting captures a majestic architectural ruin reclaimed by nature. Thick impasto strokes build a tangible sense of decay and timelessness. The pale stone of the structure glows against a muted, earthy background. Arches stand as silent witnesses to a vanished era. The artist employs a sophisticated palette of ochre, sage, and cream. These tones blend seamlessly to evoke a melancholic yet serene mood. Rhythmic brushwork creates a vibrant texture across the canvas. The surrounding foliage encroaches upon the masonry. This interaction suggests a delicate balance between human creation and organic growth. Light filters through the composition with a soft, diffused quality. It illuminates the weathered surfaces and deep shadows of the portico. Every layer of paint adds depth to the scene. The artwork transforms a static landscape into a poetic meditation on permanence. The composition leads the eye from the wild foreground toward the structured symmetry of the facade. It concludes with a focus on the eroded edges of the crowning pediment.
