Description
A profound exploration of stillness. This oil painting presents a dialogue between organic growth and weathered matter. A lush cluster of green blades emerges from a dark, rounded vessel. The foliage vibrates with life against a muted, atmospheric background.
The artist utilizes a revisited academicism to elevate a simple subject into a poetic meditation. The jar possesses a heavy, tactile presence. Its surface shows signs of age and erosion, blending deep charcoals with earthy ochre tones. This contrast emphasizes the fragility of the plant against the permanence of the clay.
Every brushstroke seeks an aesthetic emotion. The composition avoids distraction to focus on the symbolic relationship between the container and the contained. Light falls softly across the curve of the pot, creating a sense of mystery and interiority. The artwork functions like a botanical study, capturing a moment of quiet fascination. It transforms a domestic object into a vessel of memory and contemplation. The deep shadows merge with the vessel's silhouette, grounding the scene in a timeless, silent space.
Presentation
Claudine Picard is a French artist born in 1949 who lives and works in Sainte Marie, France. She is graduatedfrom the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD). Nature is for the artiste an infinite source of inspiration. Her work is experimental research, she is inspired by everyday life through figurative expression as a revisited academicism. Claudine provokes the imagination and the reminiscence of memories, lost and poetic emotions by matching symbolic subjects with inhabited and mysterious objects. These in their immobile presence and the fixity of their stripping induces a fascination. Still life immerses us in an atmosphere where the components chosen by associations of shapes and climates resonate each others. Painting is for the artist the search for an aesthetic emotion. As in the way of naturalists entomologists or botanists, she groupes by themes and materials, elements that make up her paintings.
