Description
This oil painting captures a moment of profound stillness. A tall bottle stands beside a simple bowl. Broken eggshells scatter across a rustic wooden surface. The composition relies on a muted, neutral palette. Soft light defines the volumes with precision. Every shape breathes a quiet, poetic melancholy.
The artist employs a revisited academicism to elevate everyday objects. There is a scientific rigor in the arrangement. It evokes the meticulous nature of a botanist. Each element is stripped of excess. This minimalism directs the focus toward the raw essence of the materials.
The texture of the wood contrasts with the smooth curves of the ceramics. The fractured shells introduce a narrative of fragility and time. This artwork transforms a domestic scene into a meditative study. It invites the viewer to find beauty in the mundane. The atmosphere remains mysterious and inhabited. The scene concludes with the subtle play of shadows beneath the white bowl.
Presentation
Claudine Picard is a French artist born in 1949 who lives and works in Sainte Marie, France. She is graduatedfrom the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD). Nature is for the artiste an infinite source of inspiration. Her work is experimental research, she is inspired by everyday life through figurative expression as a revisited academicism. Claudine provokes the imagination and the reminiscence of memories, lost and poetic emotions by matching symbolic subjects with inhabited and mysterious objects. These in their immobile presence and the fixity of their stripping induces a fascination. Still life immerses us in an atmosphere where the components chosen by associations of shapes and climates resonate each others. Painting is for the artist the search for an aesthetic emotion. As in the way of naturalists entomologists or botanists, she groupes by themes and materials, elements that make up her paintings.
