Description
A quiet exploration of domesticity. This oil painting captures a moment of profound stillness. A white bowl rests within a concrete basin. A single spoon leans against the rim. To the side, a small wooden box adds a touch of warmth to the cool palette. The composition relies on a sophisticated study of light and shadow. Soft gradients define the curved surfaces. Every line is precise. The artist revisits academic traditions through a contemporary lens. This artwork transforms ordinary household objects into symbols of memory and contemplation. It evokes a sense of poetic solitude. The atmosphere is hushed and mysterious. The neutral tones emphasize the purity of the forms. The viewer is invited to find beauty in the stripped-down essence of the everyday. This piece reflects a meticulous approach to figurative expression. It focuses on the tactile quality of materials. The contrast between the smooth ceramic and the rough stone creates a subtle visual tension. The scene is anchored by the dark circle of the drain at the bottom.
Presentation
Claudine Picard is a French artist born in 1949 who lives and works in Sainte Marie, France. She is graduatedfrom the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD). Nature is for the artiste an infinite source of inspiration. Her work is experimental research, she is inspired by everyday life through figurative expression as a revisited academicism. Claudine provokes the imagination and the reminiscence of memories, lost and poetic emotions by matching symbolic subjects with inhabited and mysterious objects. These in their immobile presence and the fixity of their stripping induces a fascination. Still life immerses us in an atmosphere where the components chosen by associations of shapes and climates resonate each others. Painting is for the artist the search for an aesthetic emotion. As in the way of naturalists entomologists or botanists, she groupes by themes and materials, elements that make up her paintings.
